Equal opportunities policy statement

Education for Change (EfC) engages with diverse individuals, communities and organisations around the world and aims to establish partnerships and relationships based on mutuality and respect.  We embrace diversity and draw from it to develop new ideas, share experiences and learn lessons.

EfC is committed to equality of opportunity and this Statement is the basis for our approach to working with others.  We will work to remove barriers and will attempt to redress imbalances in opportunity. We believe that operating within an Equal Opportunities framework provides the best possible service to partners and clients.  We reject unjustified discrimination in any area of our work, including the recruitment, retention, training and development of staff, on the basis of gender, marital status, sexual identity, religious belief, political opinion, race, work pattern, age, disability or HIV/AIDS status, socio-economic background, spent convictions, trade union activity or membership, or on the basis of having or not having dependants.

EfC requires those whom it sub-contracts or works with in partnership to operate in accordance with our Equal Opportunities Statement.  We will challenge unlawful and unfair discrimination and consider any such discrimination by contractors to be potentially in contravention of our agreement with them.

The Statement applies in the UK and overseas wherever local conditions allow.  Where practices and legislation are more developed and extensive we will meet local requirements.
