Gebremedhin Belete
Gebremedhin Belete became an EfC Associate after working on the Thematic Evaluation of Primary Education conducted by EfC for Plan International. He was engaged as national consultant on the Ethiopian case study.
He is a qualified teacher and was a school principal in Ethiopia where he taught for ten years before working for ActionAid in Ethiopia from 1994 to 2002 as Education Sector Manager and then National Program Advisor.
An Ethiopian national, Gebre studied in South Africa between 2003 and 2006, completing a Post Graduate Diploma in Education, Training and Community Development from Natal University, South Africa, and a Master of Management in Public and Development Management from Witwatersrand University. He is currently studying for a PhD in Civil Society and Government Partnership to Achieve the Millennium Development Goals in Ethiopia.
While in South Africa, he worked on community development and sustainable development with a range of public, private, civil society organisations and agencies. He provided training and conducted project review, evaluation and situational analysis reports.
A freelance consultant since late 2006, Gebre has been working in Ethiopia for local and international NGOs on programme impact assessment, monitoring and evaluation and capacity building, mainly in the education sector. He also specialises in literacy and basic skills for adults and young people.
