Thematic Evaluation of Belgium Development Cooperation in the Education Sector

Education for Change Ltd (EfC), in partnership with South Research (Kessel-Lo, Belgium), has been commissioned by DGDC to carry out a Thematic Evaluation of Belgian Development Cooperation in the Education Sector.

The purpose of this evaluation is to learn lessons that help DGDC to improve policies and practices in this area.

The evaluation started on the 5th of October 2006 and will last ten months. It comprises 4 phases:

  • a critical inventory (documentation gathering, issues, challenges, situation as it is)
  • an opinion gathering phase (interviews/emails correspondence with key players etc)
  • field missions in 6 case-study countries: Benin, Burundi, DR Congo, Ecuador, Tanzania, and Vietnam
  • a synthesis/report writing phase.
